I’ve seen a lot of good analogue horror, and this just isn’t it. The paintings are “scary” I guess, and this concept could make a decent series, but the way it’s presented just sucks. This feels like some kid with good art skills made some paintings, quickly made a story for them, and boom. All the analogue horror I’ve seen features a realistic vibe to it. Kinda like world building. Where does it take place? Who made the videos? This could have been some much better had we be given some more backstory to the killer and town where this is happening. The documentation or videos could have a special set up, like they are police reports or made by the police. We could get less tell and more show. We don’t need to know everything that happened, my favorite thing In analogue horror is when you get to guess and theorize what happened. My ideas may sound stupid because I have no experience with making horror and all of my writing sucks, but theses are just some ideas that I would want to add.

I think the guys political opinions 100% matter cuz im not playing a game made by far-right dickheads and racists. This game really just was a "take this woke political correctness".

I will be back to watch this. But I must play these games first. Thank you for the recommendation, the fact that the 1st game is a total of $3 also helps, but I’m glad to finally have a new surreal RPG to play through.

Could really feel the heart put into this video. Enjoyed watching it but was hoping for some greater lore explanation only to end up with lots of waffle. Will keep my eye on hylics now thanks to this video though!

Even though the series is…awful The fact that he uses his own art is amazing. His art has an uncanny valley similar to artists like Trever Henderson, Martin Walls, and Doctor Nowhere (I know The Painter was out WAY before The Boiled One became a thing but you get what I’m saying). Edit: Now that I’m thinking about it. Even if his art is creepy, it just feels…disgusting and creepy in a bad way. Especially considering he uses his own art for his videos. Edit 2: Plus, the creator of UrbanSpook stated that The Painter wasn’t meant to have deep ass lore because writing an overarching plot isn’t his style.

Any time I see stuff like that I just think of those images like "I can be yuor angle, or your devil..." and "I have 2 sides, nicest guy you'll ever meet, and twisted fricking psychopath" posted by edgy teenagers. Which even at the time people thought were funny, not actually 'horrific'. Does the guy who is making these not realise he's literally the kid going "erm, yeah, I'm kinda fricking psycho, I even shouted at my MOM when she took my DS away at bedtime B)" Also hilarious for him to reference oneyplays, when Zach and Chris persistently mock fake edgy people. Maybe he couldn't pick up on the sarcasm when they say it's "hecking cool".

For the algorithm

The first couple of episodes were terrific. The series then jumped the shark.

While I very much agree with your general sentiment about the time and effort it takes to do stop motion animation, I'd like to point out that it isn't nearly as bad if you're doing this with RPG Maker. They may have changed the standard recently but in the past things like character walk cycles were restricted to 4 frames per direction by default without modifying the engine or using a plugin or something. You can very much see this while playing Hylics as well, many of the animations in the game are stilted. So yes the work is tedious and I respect it, but RPG Maker and something like a full stop motion film are two different things.

I think the “again?” text is a sort of ironic joke. The “again?” comes from Mario when he got news that peach has been kidnapped again. The irony comes from that phrase being the beginning of the time loop This was a lot harder to put in words then I thought it would be
